Best Foods For Skin--Beautiful Skin And Nails

Best Foods For Skin

Who does not want to have healthy and young skin? “Increasingly, studies are finding links between certain nutrients and wrinkle reduction, radiance, and acne prevention,” says David Bank, MD, a dermatologist in Mount Kisco, New York. Many foods are chockfull of amazing anti-aging nutrients and anti-oxidants that save skin from impairment and keep the skin beauifully radiant, young and healthy.

Foods That Keep Your Skin Healthy
Super Foods For Skin

Best Super Foods For Healthy Skin

Here are 10 best of my favorite super foods to nourish your skin from the inside and out and how often to eat them:

1. Bell Peppers And Broccoli: Vitamin C, an essentially required nutrient, augments production of collagen – the skin building blocks. In order to have fewer fine lines and wrinkles-free skin, your body critically requires enough collagen.

Recommended serving size: 1 cup fresh or 1 ½ cup cooked per day.

2. Wild Salmon: Omega-3 fatty acids enable the skin to retain moisture, rendering it soft and supple. This nourishing ingredient also conserves the skin natural oils and elasticity.

Recommended serving size: 4 to 6 ounces, 3 times per week

3. Blackberries And Raspberries: Ellagic acid saves the skin from UV rays and thus helps in preventing wrinkles and fine lines.

Recommended serving size: 1 ½ cup fresh or frozen per day

4. Tomatoes: It’s a rich source of lycopene that helps in preventing skin against sun damage. This potent antioxidant gives best results when cooked, so homemade tomato sauce and tomato soup are both great for skin’s health.

Recommended serving size: Aim for at least 1 portion, 5 times per week.

5. Sweet Potatoes: Beta-carotene exterminates free radicals, averting damage to skin cells. The body system transforms beta-carotene into vitamin A, which ward off signs of aging.

Recommended serving size:  One per day. Trade with carrots, cantaloupe, or mangoes for similar effect.

6. Yogurt: “You need protein daily to keep your skin firm and more resistant to lines”, says Dr. Wu. Yogurt, especially Greek yogurt is a good source of protein. To quote Dr. Perricone, “Greek yogurt has double the content of protein that a normal yogurt has”.

Recommended serving size: Eat a single serving daily to make your complexion smoother.

7. Green And Yellow Vegetables To Fight Crow’s-Feet: To quote Dr. Wu, “the people who eat green and yellow vegetables regularly tend to have fewer wrinkles, particularly around the eyes,”. Dr. Bank adds “Also, studies found that carotenoids — the antioxidants in yellow and orange veggies — can decrease skin’s sensitivity to the sun”.

Recommended serving size: Aim for about 1 ½ cups daily

8. Pomegranates: Pomegranates are good source of polyphenol antioxidants, which fight free radicals and regulate skin’s blood flow, providing it rosiness”, says Dr. Perricone. Dr. Bank adds “When applied topically to the skin, its antioxidants help smooth lines and moisturize”.

Recommended serving size: 1 pomegranate daily

9. Walnuts: “Being rich source of omega-3 essential fatty acids, they help in enhancing skin’s elasticity,” says Dr. Bank. In addition they soften skin as well. Bonus point is that they are packed with copper – a mineral that raises collagen production, which smoothens and tightens skin.

Recommended serving size: A handful of walnuts each day to boost your complexion’s texture

10. Kiwi: When we talk of vitamin C, orange is not the top pick. Just a single kiwi can provide you mare than the daily requirement for this skin-friendly nutrient. Does it not make this fuzzy skinned fruit your skin’s best buddy?

A report in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition stated that larger intakes of vitamin C were coupled with slowed-down skin-aging appearance. Vitamin C’s role in the synthesis of the structural protein collagen renders it a strong confederate in the quest of fetching a healthy complexion.

How To Grow Your Eyelashes Longer Naturally--Beautiful Skin And Nails

How To Grow Your Eyelashes Longer  Naturally

Are you concerned about your thin eyelashes or sparse lashes growth? Well, you are not the only one.

Long and fuller eyelashes make a person’s eyes look even more gorgeous and attractive. I too love having long, fuller lashes.

Fake lashes are quite popular, but I don’t prefer using them, even on special occasions as they don’t look natural. Moreover, I don’t like to put glue onto my skin. Yuck, who knows what types of chemicals are in that and plus it’s especially not good to apply it so close to your eye because the skin around the eye area is highly sensitive.

So, I was looking for natural ways to grow long, thicker lashes without applying the toxic glues required for fake eyelashes (which can sometimes fall off) or chemicals in store bought mascaras!

I researched the various natural ways for growing eyelashes longer and thicker. I tried them on my lashes and I want to share an update with the ones that gave me the best results and also how they worked!

Read on here a combination of best 3 DIY ways to grow thicker, fuller and longer eyelashes fast naturally, which I have found to be the most effective.

1. Castor Oil: It contains beneficial antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which in combination with its powerful follicle-stimulating property can help you get lustrous and voluminous lashes. It also helps to keep in control micro-organisms, which otherwise obstruct hair growth. This oil not only can help you get long lashes, but also is good for growing your hair and for eyebrows too!

How To Apply It:

(i) Make sure to use a natural and hexane-free brand of castor oil.

(ii) Wash your eye area thoroughly to cleanse it of any makeup or products.

(iii) Use a clean brush, a cotton swab or your finger to lightly apply castor oil on your lashes from the roots of the lashes to the ends before going to bed. A drop or two are enough to cover the lashes of each eye. For added benefits, add a drop of vitamin E oil to the castor oil before applying.

(iv) Leave it overnight and then rinse it off well with water the next morning so that your pores and glands don’t get clogged. Be gentle while you clean your eyes – don’t rub them. Use this remedy for about 2-3 months.

Alternatively, you can also apply extra virgin olive oil. This oil is contains vitamin E and oleic acid, both of which can nourish and add volume to your eyelashes.

Another option is organic coconut oil. It contains lauric acid, which can help boost hair health and growth by preventing protein loss.

Natural Beauty Tip: Castor oil is one of the most commonly recommended oils for growing longer, fuller lashes. Always try to use organic, hexane-free brand of castor oil.

2. Homemade Eyelash Growth Serum Recipe: (Coconut Oil And Lavender Essential Oil): I was researching on the advantages of applying orally lavender essential oil and how it helps to augment eyelash growth. I discovered this easy and quick DIY recipe to use on the eyelashes. Lavender essential oil assists to get rid of damaging free radicals and may also contribute considerably to enhance hair growth. Coconut oil is an ideal carrier oil to mix it with. It is soothing, nutrient rich and moreover it has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

What you need:

(i) Coconut oil: 1/2 teaspoon, organic

(ii) Lavender essential oil: 1-2 drops

Method:

(i) Combine the coconut oil and lavender essential together. You can even mix these two together in the palm of your hand. If you want to make more, use the same ratio in larger quantities, and store the mixture in an air-tight container at a cooler place, away from light.

(ii) Gently wash your eye area with your hands thoroughly to cleanse it of any makeup or any other products. Use a clean brush, a cotton swab or your finger to lightly apply it along your eyelash roots down to the ends of your eyelashes.

3. Eyelids Massage: Massaging the eyelids increases blood flow to the hair follicles, and so more nutrients reach your follicles. This nurtures your lashes, make them grow as well as prevents thinning and breakage of your lashes. Do it every night.

Method:

(i) Before massaging your eyelids, make sure to wash your hands first.

(ii) Use a few drops of coconut oil, petroleum jelly or shea butter and with the help of your fingers gently massage along your lids and lash-line. While massaging sweep your fingers along the length of your eyelids towards your eye – downwards on your upper eyelid, and upward on your lower eyelid.

(iii) Be careful that the oil/petroleum jelly or shea butter doesn’t go into your eyes. Also properly wash your eyes area afterwards so that the oil doesn’t clog the pores.

(iv) Just apply a gentle pressure onto your eyelids while massaging them. The pressure shouldn’t be so hard that it hurts your eyeballs or eyelids in any way.

(v)Massage for a couple of minutes every day for few months to see the results.

Natural Beauty Tips:

(i) Remove your makeup every night. Makeup can dry out your lashes, making them brittle and prone to break or fall out.

(ii) Use a gentle makeup remover for your eyes. Coconut oil is a good option because it will not only get rid of your makeup, but also moisturize your lashes at the same time.

Cautions:

(i) If you suffer from styes or any other eye related issues, consult a dermatologist before you use anything on them.

(ii) Eyes and the skin around them are sensitive, so if you experience any irritation from any of the application you are putting on your lashes, discontinue immediately. If the irritation still continues after you have stopped using the treatment, consult a doctor.

Are you using anything to grow your eyelashes longer and fuller? Please do share your experience with our readers.

7 Bad Habits You Had No Idea Were Ruining Your Hair--Beautiful Skin And Nails

7 Bad Habits You Had No Idea Were Ruining Your Hair

You don't know that There are adversely daily habits affect your hair. Changing bad habits to protect yourhair.
1. Expired Products—That Includes Tools

 Expired Products—That Includes Tools
According to Jasmine Anna Galazka, leading stylist at the Warren Tricomi Flagship Salon in The Plaza Hotel, New York, and educator for Shu Uemura Art of Hair and Kérastase, using products that have expired on your hair can significantly damage it—the biggest offender can be your hair dryer (who knew).“Old product just sits on the hair shaft instead of infusing it with rich ingredients. Always check the date and be updated on what new launches are within your favorite brands." And a totally off-the-radar thing to beware of: old tools. "Hair dryers or heat tools have a tendency to increase their strength in heat once they've gained some years, hence drying your hair out,"Galazka says.
2. The Wrong Brush
The Wrong Brush
Having the right brushes to detangle or style your hair can significantly help the structure of your follicle. Galazka’s tip: Always use ceramic or natural bristles.
3. Pulling Back Your Hair When It’s Wet

Galazka says the number-one worst thing you can probably do to your hair is tie it up while it’s still wet. “This puts a lot of strain on your hair and sometimes adds to breakage.”
4…Or Going to Bed With It Like That

"When you go to bed with wet hair, your pillow will absorb a lot of moisture, and as you toss and turn, all your baby hair can rub off on your pillow case,” Galazka says. “Instead, apply your favorite heat protector/leave-in conditioner and blow-dry your roots and mid-shaft, then braid the rest of the remaining length. And use butterfly clips to secure your hair instead of rubber hair ties. There’s less tension and they will not leave a mark.”

5. Using the Wrong Products for Your Hair Type

Like skin care, one size does not fit all when it comes to hair products. Ashley Streicher, advisory stylist for StriVectin HAIR, says a big offender of daily damage is using the wrong hair products. “Just because it says on the bottle that it's for shiny, healthy hair, it means nothing. It could be the wrong product for your particular hair type, or there could be drying ingredients in it. Make sure that you’re using the right products for your hair!”

6. Ponytails on Overdrive

Streicher says, like Galazka, that she sees many clients’ hair breaking in the middle of the shaft, and it's sleeping in a tight elastic hair band that is to blame. “You also get breakage from just wearing your hair in too tight of a ponytail for too long. An alternative is to wear your hair up in a loose hair pin or wearing a braid to bed.”
7. A Diet That’s Devoid of Vitamins

A Diet That’s Devoid of Vitamins
You may have heard this one, but Streicher says she sees clients (ones who don’t color their hair or style it with hot tools) with broken hair who have no idea what it could possibly be from. “Some damage can actually be attributed to poor diet. If you are noticing dry, broken hair and don't know why, it's likely because your diet is off and you may be missing some vitamins or proteins and not even know it.”

A nice Backstory of 2 New Nail Polishes in summer--Beautiful Skin And Nails

A nice Backstory of 2 New Nail Polishes in summer

Decades before Jin Soon Choi was creating manicures for Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid, she was doing nails for her friends in the South Korean village where she grew up. Staining nails with the dye from the crushed petals of the local balsam flower was a beloved tradition: Every year after the summer rainy season, women would gather the garden flowers and wrap the petals around their nails until they left behind a vibrant orange stain. “The nail bed would absorb the petal's color, creating a tint that would last until the nail naturally grew out,” says Choi. “It was believed that if the color lasted until the first snowfall, one would marry their true love the following year.”

For her debut summer collection, Choi is reinterpreting this sweet Korean tradition with the launch of two high-gloss, sheer polishes named Blush and Crush. Crush, a bright orange-red is a close match to the actual balsam flower stain, while Blush is an ultra-sheer ballet pink that’s best described as just a whisper of color. Both hues leave behind a jelly-like finish that's so glossy and juicy, it makes me stop and stare at my own nails every time I see them. The polishes also give off a light rose scent once dry—another nod to the fragrant memories that inspired this beautiful duo.
